No. 2 from Kinkel's "6 Lieder mit Begleitung des Pianoforte" (6 Songs with Piano Accompaniment) (Op. 6), published by Kistner in Leipzig. The collection is dedicated to Angela Oppenhoff. The poem is by August Kopisch, a German poet and painter.

A humorous drinking song (Trinklied) that opens with "Freunde sagt, was wollt ihr trinken?" (Friends, say, what will you drink?) — praising the many uses of water, yet declaring wine the only proper drink. While Kinkel was alive, the German music journal Neue Zeitschrift für Musik (New Journal of Music) praised her skill in writing drinking songs and music for male choirs.
